Exercise 1 / 5
Two inertial frames $S$ and $S'$ are in standard configuration with relative velocity $v$. A rod of proper length $L_0$ lies along the $x'$-axis in $S'$. Show that its length measured in $S$ is $L = L_0\sqrt{1-v^2/c^2}$, and discuss the reciprocity of this contraction.
